The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live Review - 4 Ups & 6 Downs From "The Last Time"
7. Down: The Action Is Safe & Predictable
Picture it: Two people, admittedly incredibly tough and capable fighters, are about to infiltrate a seemingly impenetrable military base and dismantle its operations. Sounds epic, no?
Well, that's what happens in "The Last Time," as Rick and Michonne concoct a bonkers plan to weasel their way into the CRM headquarters, take on potentially hundreds of battle-ready soldiers, and walk into the sunset together. And, honestly, it all goes swimmingly.
Rick confronts Beale, who has his big villain moment before Rick swiftly stabs him to death with his own sword, and then Rick and Michonne, with minimal pushback, engulf the place in flames, free at last and ready to live the happily ever after they've always craved.
There are some interesting moments in here, from Rick's short-lived face off with Thorne - his mirror image; the person he could have been if he'd given up all hope of finding his family - to its brief splashes of colourful visuals, but ultimately the action beats of "The Last Time" are too safe and too predictable to be all that memorable.
