The X-Files: 10 Best Characters Who Appeared After Season One
8. Diana Fowley
The dynamic monster-hunting duo of Mulder and Scully is The X-Files' most iconic impact on pop culture. It's incredibly hard to ever really imagine The X-Files without the pair, though the show certainly tried multiple times.
However, in season five fans learned that Dana Scully wasn't Mulder's first partner working with him on the X-Files. In fact, that honor went to Diana Fowley, who discovered the X-Files with Mulder and was his first real partner/romantic love interest in the FBI.
Diana reappeared in Mulder's life when he and Scully were trying to protect a telepathic boy who was being hunted by assassins because of the threat he passed to the world's greatest conspiracies. Diana is actually one of the few characters in The X-Files to completely believe in Mulder's absurd theories and conspiracies, seemingly without wavering.
This loyalty stretched across Diana's following appearances, even while she started working with Jefferey Spender and the Cigarette Smoking Man, a betrayal Mulder never truly got over because of his deep feelings for Diana.
Diana seemed to truly love Mulder as much as he loved her, even when she died after helping Scully rescue Mulder from being killed by the Smoking Man's experiments, her love stayed with Mulder and gave him a second chance to fight against the Smoking Man and his plans for world destruction.
