The X-Files Revival Trailer: 20 Things You Need To See

2. Lighting The Scene

One of the most distinctive trademarks of The X-Files, especially in the early seasons, was the habit of having the actors light the scene with flashlights, using Mulder and Scully's lights to direct the viewer's attention and add to the atmosphere of the show. It was something that was almost unheard of on network television - the going theory was that the show would be way to dark for viewers to want to watch continually. The X-Files proved that dark didn't mean viewers lost interest or were unable to follow the action. It became the show's trademark (or one of several at least), and the production should be applauded for maintaining the look and feel of the show. No matter how it turns out, at least they got that right.
