10 Things Everyone Always Gets Wrong About Modern Doctor Who
7. "Molto Bene" Was A BIG Tenth Doctor Catchphrase
"Sorry", "Weeeell", "What?" "Molto Bene"- the Tenth Doctor, a Time Lord of many phrases, is considered by some to have his BIG catchphrase as Molto Bene, most probably due to its importance at the end of Series 4 episode Midnight. Italian for "very good" or "very well," this has been a staple for cosplayers and Tenth Doctor stans since he first burst onto our screens. The thing is, however, that he hasn't actually said it that much throughout the show.
He doesn't say it at all in his debut in Series 2; he says it once in Series 3, then a handful of times in Series 4, mostly towards the back end. You can even back this up by searching through all the scripts on the BBC archive.
A more appropriate catchphrase for Matchstick Man would be "Allons-y"; it's French for "Let's go." The phrase is so synonymous with The Tenth Doctor that it is among the first results when googling the term, and it became the final words of the Fourteenth Doctor before his Bi-Regeneration. You can practically see David Tennant gleaming every time you say it.
