10 Things Everyone Always Gets Wrong About Modern Doctor Who

Here's one for the normies.

Peter Capaldi is one of the best actors ever to play the role of The Doctor. Often having the best-acted sequences in the show's entire history, his performance is often said to be so good that you could put the Twelfth Doctor in any other period of the show's catalogue, and he would fit in perfectly. He has, however, received what some might consider an unfair reputation.

Showrunner Steven Moffat clearly wanted to push the alien aspect of The Doctor to a new level not seen in previous incarnations, leading to the Doctor coming across as far more socially awkward, with cue cards and a carer who cares for him so he doesn't have to. These moments, in particular, seem to reach the fandom and the general TV-watching audience alike, painting a very different picture of who The Twelfth Doctor really is.

Peter Capaldi is best known for his portrayals as grumpy, loud, and mean characters - especially in "The Thick of It" as Malcom Tucker. He's also very good at it, so it was no surprise that a lot of the general audience took some of those preconceived notions and applied them to his iteration of the Doctor. However, talk to any regular viewer of Doctor Who, and they will tell you that his iteration is one of the kindest, most caring iterations. A man who believes the best in others, even his greatest enemies. He's The Doctor who is, above all, Kind. Just Kind.
