Titans: 10 Things You Didn't Know About Jason Todd

2. He Actually Became Batman Once

Jason may be best known as Batman's ill-fated friend, but he actually spent sometime wearing the pointy-eared mask too when he took up the legendary mantle in 2009's Battle For The Cowl - much to the displeasure of every other hero in Gotham City.

After the events of Batman R.I.P., Dick Grayson was the logical choice to take over as Gotham's primary protector, but he refused to do so. Unfortunately, his reluctance allowed Jason to step up and become Batman's successor instead, and the results were quite disturbing.

Wearing a unique and demonic version of the Bat-suit that covered his whole face, the former Red Hood was also armed with two handguns and wasn't afraid to kill anyone that crossed him. His barbaric actions quickly drew the attention of the Bat-family as fellow Robins Dick, Tim Drake and Damian Wayne all tried to stop him.

Unafraid of the challenges, Jason quickly shot Damian, stabbed Tim in the chest with a Batarang - (both of which were intended to kill the two heroes), saving his battle with Dick until last. Thankfully, Nightwing managed to defeat him and in doing so, officially took up the mantle of Batman.
