Titans Season 2: 6 Ups & 3 Downs From Aqualad

3. The Origins Of Bloodlust Robin

Titans introduced us to a Robin that literally nobody was expecting. With a thirst for vengeance and a lack of compassion, the Boy Wonder was completely unrecognisable as he took an unnerving amount pleasure in brutally pummelling his foes. All of those actions, however, were the result of spending too much time with Batman.

The idea of being Batman was discussed twice by Dick and Dawn in 'Aqualad'. Sure, the first time it was mentioned may have been little more than a kinky metaphor, but that set the stage for its return later in the episode as, following Garth's death, Dawn turned to Dick and told him to "Be Batman" - and this time, there was no subtext as the intentions were abundantly clear.

That vengeful Dick Grayson was very much a product of his time. No longer seen in the present and not even seen five years in the past, he showed up at a time in between when the young hero was going through some dark days and, as a result, he let that darkness in. Well now, it looks like we're finally going to see how he was born.

In order for the show to fully let go of this Robin, we need to understand how he came to be, which makes the idea of another flashback episode all the more exciting.
