Top 5 Serial Killers On TV

1. Dexter Morgan - Dexterdexter_season_8_wallpaper_hd_2_by_inickeon-d6671eu Come on, don't lie, you knew this was coming. Dexter: the series that started it all. Dexter Morgan was probably the first Tv show to depict a serial killer, albeit in a 'good light'. Played by Michael C. Hall, Dexter started his life born in blood. As a young infant, he witnessed his mother being brutally massacred into pieces by a chainsaw, as she was suspected of being a police informant. As he lay in the floor covered in an ocean of her blood, the first officer on scene saved him from his misery. That officer would go on to adopt him, partially because of his personal relationship with Dexter's biological mother, and the guilt he felt because she was his informant. After finding numerous small animals killed around their area, Harry who suspects Dexter of the killings, confronts him. After he realised that the damage done to pool ol' Dex was permanent, Harry teaches the now teen Dexter, 'The code'. It is this premise that the whole show revolves around. The life of Dexter Morgan, and the struggles he faces leading two lives. Dexter follows Harry's code (mostly...) and kills anyone who has killed before, and is likely to do so again. It is this blatant irony that makes Dexter so interesting. What sets Dexter apart though, is the fact that he could be anywhere. He could be you or me, or even your next door neighbour. Sure, Dexter has to regularly fake emotions and he has anti-social personality issues but in the end, people rarely see through the facade. He has crafted his mask and disguise so well, that even his own sister who was a Detective in the Miami Dade Police Department, couldn't see him for the monster he was. All said and done though, the ultimate reason why Dexter should be #1 is because in his mind, he is doing good, because his 'urges' are channeled. The clincher is that in our minds, he does good too! It is this aspect that really makes Dexter numero uno. We wait anxiously, week after week, waiting for Dexter to stalk his victims, make sure of their guilt and finally prepare a kill room meticulously. We can't wait to see him overdose his victims on M99 animal tranquilizers, wrap them in plastic and finally, kill them. It's sadistic for us to want him to kill but that's the beauty of it; we want him to succeed. What makes Dexter so scary, is that he makes us monsters too.
