True Detective Season 2: 10 Reasons To Be Excited

5. The Music

According to Nic Pizzolatto, original music is going to play a much bigger part in this season. That€™s especially good news considering that once again the man behind the music is T Bone Burnett. As well as working on season 1, he€™s done a lot of fantastic work in film, in particular on the Coen brothers€™ O Brother, Where Art Though? and Inside Llewyn Davis. We've seen in shows such as Game of Thrones (think Rains of Castamere) just how important music can be in television; it not only establishes the tone, but it can give different cues throughout the episode for various characters, settings, and events that are about to happen, while providing a form of entertainment in its own right. More original music from T Bone can only be a good thing, and if it€™s all like the somewhat eerie song heard in the original trailer then it€™ll go a long way to helping create the dark, intense mood of the show, and give us an excellent soundtrack to boot.
