7. How IS Annie, Anyway?
The Annie in question was Annie Blackburn, Dale Coopers true love in season two, fresh from her stint in a convent in time to win the Miss Twin Peaks pageant and Dales heart in one fell swoop. She was reviled by fans who preferred a Dale-Audrey tryst, but remained key to Coops heart regardless. She managed to escape the clutches of the Black Lodge, but what occurred afterwards? Was she safe after all? The final words of the show, spoken by BOB through Agent Cooper, was the hauntingly chuckled refrain, Hows Annie? Was this intended as a clue by BOB that Annie had been in some way affected by her visit to the Black Lodge? Or a hint that he intended Annie to be his next victim? Or possibly a maneuver to psychologically harm Cooper from his confines?
