Twin Peaks Season 3: 10 Things That Need To Happen

4. How Is Annie?

Besides the other big cliffhangers on offer in the Twin Peaks series finale, we have to ask: how's Annie? That's the nutty phrase that the possessed Cooper kept repeating after smashing his forehead on his bathroom mirror, after having sold his soul to either BOB or Windom Earle so that his love interest would survive being hospitalised. Played by Heather Graham, Annie went on to make a brief appearance as some sort of ethereal supernatural figure in Fire Walk With Me, appearing in a dream of Laura Palmer's prior to the events of the show and telling her about how Cooper's soul was trapped in the Black Lodge. That implies that Annie is still a pretty big part of the story going forward, but will Heather Graham be back for it? Unlike the rest of the cast she doesn't seemed to have really aged since the show went off the air, which is a good sign. She also doesn't seem to be particularly picky about her projects, which is another one. Whilst Graham has appeared in the likes of Boogie Nights, Swingers and The Hangover, she's also agreed to star in absolute guff like The Guru, Anger Management, and The Hangover Part III. That suggests that she'd probably be pretty up for reprising her role in Twin Peaks, to balance out the average quality of her filmography. Which would be mighty interesting, since she'd probably be the biggest name in the show to non-Twin Peaks fans, and because then we'd get an answer to whether or not Agent Cooper's sacrifice was in vain: presumably selling his soul did save her life, but then what? Does she realise that BOB has taken control of his body? Has she continued to try and send messages into the past trying to alter the course of history? We shall see...
