Larry is an almost comically grumpy old man, but his death still makes the list due to its truly macabre nature. Having just been thrown into a meat locker by a farmhouse family who only moments earlier served up human flesh to their unknowing dinner guests, Larry and the rest of the gang are trying to find a way to escape. In the panic, Larry starts to suffer a heart attack, which only heightens the tension. Despite his daughter pleading for his life to be spared, Larry's situation is dire and he must be killed for precautionary sake. It's one of the many important decisions you have to make as main character Lee in the videogame - whether you have the balls to finish him yourself or try in futility to revive him. Either way, Lee or his right hand man Kenny ends up dropping a salt lick on the poor guy's skull, right in front of Larry's desperate daughter and Lee's honorary bird-under-his-wing, Clementine. Why It's So Brutal The death stands out not only because of how bloody and overly-efficient it is - Larry's brains having been splattered impressively across the floor - but because it bookends a series of dark moments in the game. It also is the first time one of the members of your group has to be killed for the greater good and for that it resonates strongly. Many expected to rejoice when that surly dog finally got what was coming but the end result was so unexpected and gory it only served to shock and sober the player.
