1. Daryl's Going To Be P*ssed Off
If there is one guy you want on your side in a zombie apocalypse, it's Daryl. With his trusty crossbow in hand, Daryl has come to the survivors' aid on more than one occasion and has proved himself to be an absolutely essential member of the group. The one potential pitfall from the group's point of view at least was his deep love for his psychotic brother, Merle. But Merle is now gone and Daryl is back to doing what he does best, killing walkers and protecting those he cares about. And who did he care about most? That's right, Carol. The repercussions of Rick's decision cannot be overstated here. Not only has he forced out an integral survivor, he has also, no doubt, managed to p*ss off the one guy who could be relied upon completely. Assuming Rick comes clean when he returns, how will Daryl react? His burgeoning relationship with Carol was one of the focal points of the show and, given how close they are now, I cannot see him taking this news well. There are a number of things that could happen here. Perhaps Daryl will go off by himself in search of Carol. He's got history here, having done it it before with both Sophia and Merle decisions which left the group extremely vulnerable in his absence. Or perhaps he will take his frustrations out on Rick himself. We saw how he reacted when Bob considered drawing his pistol on him, and I suspect we may see more of this side of Daryl as the season progresses. With Rick making increasingly questionable decisions, we may even see a coup with Daryl as the leader. It would be a cool change of pace for the show and, considering how much the group relies on him, a completely logical one. It's unclear whether Rick has taken this into account, as he obviously knows how important Daryl is to the group. Will he return and tell the truth, hoping Daryl understands? Or will he lie and say they were ambushed, risking a lie being exposed if she returns? Hopefully these, and other burning questions, will be answered sooner rather than later. Do you think Rick made the right decision? Is there a consequence I have overlooked? Comment below
