Even before she left the Hex and her true identity was revealed, fans of the comics knew that Geraldine was really Monica Rambeau, even before there were any hints of it in the show, those same fans knew about her superhero past in the source material.

Monica has appeared in the comics as Photon, Pulsar, Spectrum, and even Captain Marvel previously, and her imminent powers have now been teased in WandaVision after Darcy warned her that her cells had already been changed twice, with each time she breached the Westview barrier.

It seems then that the Hex will be what ultimately gives Monica her power, but what about the rest of those that have been forced through Wanda's barrier? There are thousands currently living within the Hex, even more so after the end of episode six, so does this mean that all of them are going to get powers?

Even if Wanda's barrier does expand even further, the MCU could still adapt the X-gene mutant origin story, affecting only those with a certain anomaly in their DNA. If so, could this be the franchise's way of introducing either mutants or Inhumans? If not, what makes Monica so special that she is the only one affected this way?
