Wandavision: Every Episode Ranked
3. Previously On
Previously On, the penultimate episode of the series, follows Wanda and Agnes as they explore Wanda's past. Agnes shows off her villainous side and magical abilities, and she and Wanda visit the day Wanda's parents were killed, the day she gained her powers, the day Vision comforted her after Pietro's death, and the day she visited Vision's corpse at SWORD and created the Hex in Westview, the town in which they intended to grow old together.
This episode also introduces us to Wanda's love of sitcoms. Dick Van Dyke was her childhood favourite, and it comforted her when she and Pietro were trapped under the rubble. Additionally, watching Malcolm in the Middle helped cheer her up after Pietro's death. This not only explains why she's choosing to live in a sitcom-esq world, but emphasizes the beauty of TV: It can comfort you in your darkest times to watch other people's shenanigans in a show where no one really gets hurt.
The single best moment from this episode is one line from Vision: "What is grief if not love persevering?" This beautiful moment perfectly encapsulates grief, one of the key themes of this show and Wanda's arc.
Previously On fills in narrative gaps and explores Wanda as a character, making it one of Wandavision's best.
