Westworld: Ranking Every Character From Worst To Best
6. Maeve Millay
Maeve's journey is one of Westworld's best arcs. From her beautiful and emotional behind the scenes look at the park in episode six to her wowing detour through Samurai World in the finale, her story is chock full of memorable moments. But the true highlight of Maeve's arc is Thandie Newton's award worthy performance.
I can't think of any other actress that could have successfully pulled off this versatile and demanding role. Newton had to convincingly portray a charming madam, a dedicated mother, a confused prisoner in search of answers, and a robot, and she absolutely nailed each and every one.
Maeve's curiosity about her reoccurring dreams and repetitive life is captivating, and the show does a good job gradually building towards her discovery. And that is merely the beginning. Once Maeve realizes what she's a host, she refuses to accept it and decides to break out of the park.
Her crusade is invigorating, but it does have one flaw. It is revealed that someone programmed the escape in Maeve, meaning she didn't actually choose to do any of it. Thankfully, Maeve does decide on her own to stay at the park and look for her daughter, proving she has obtained some form of consciousness.
