Westworld: Ranking Every Main Character From Worst To Best
7. Akecheta
Only appearing in six episodes of the second season, Akecheta may not be the most present of characters on the show but he is still one of the most significant. In episode eight of that season, Akecheta gets the opportunity to be the focus of the whole hour and the result is the best episode of that season.
At first, viewers were led to believe that the Ghost Nation were villainous murderers who chased our protagonists across the land. However, when we are shown Akecheta's tragic journey, we see that the Ghost Nation are simply trying to help and save the hosts from destruction.
Taken from his love and turned into a killer, Akecheta is the first host that begins to achieve consciousness on his own. Over the course of decades, Akecheta would slowly make more hosts aware of their true reality and plan their escape to the Valley Beyond.
It's a beautiful contextualisation of previously one-dimensional villains and Akecheta is a fantastic guide into that side of Westworld. Whether the character returns or not now that Bernard has also travelled to the Valley Beyond is irrelevant because his story may be complete but his return would be a welcome one. No one has made such a strong impact on the show in such a small amount of time.
