What To Expect In The Umbrella Academy Season 2
Fans of Netflix's supernatural show best start preparing, things are about to get weirder.
Last year saw the long-awaited adaptation of Gerard Way's Umbrella Academy series finally hit our screens, and fans of the series were not disappointed. The first season of the Netflix hit was met with acclaim from fans and critics alike, and a second season was greenlit almost immediately. The streaming giant hasn't wasted any time in developing this, and are already teasing the show's comeback.
But what is in store for the Academy?
Our favourite assassin duo tied their stories off nicely. Hazel escaped with his lady love and left his ex-partner for dead. Cha-cha survived this attempted murder, only to be decimated by the apocalypse event. The Academy, however, left us with far more loose ends. What became of Vanya after her transformation? Will Allison get her voice back, and if she does, will she ever forgive her sister?
However, these answers may also never come.
With the Academy having gone back in time to try again at the end of season one, there's technically no reason to revisit many of its loose threads. That being said, if the source material is anything to go by, there are things that will still carry through. Assuming the show follows the events of The Umbrella Academy: Dallas, viewers best prepare themselves for season two to be an even wilder ride.
5. Five Assassinates The President
If the show continues to stick close to the source material, the events of season two will focus around the assassination of President John F Kennedy. The story takes us back to Five's time working for The Commission, who are a company of time-traveling assassins. Having made a name for himself as the best within the organisation, this will be the last job Five works for them.
As we delve into Five's backstory, we learn that he was tasked with taking out specific individuals whose prolonged existence causes a threat to the world. When it comes to the President however, Five chooses to ignore orders and rebel.
This goes about as well as could be expected, and an entire squad of Temps are sent to take him out. Five wins the fight and moves on until confronted by Carmichael (The Handler in the TV series), who has taken Five's biological mother hostage, with the intention of killing her before Five is born if he does not comply.
It's likely Netflix will opt for a fictional president, rather than taking directly from the real world events of that tragic day. That being said, expect a lot of parallels to crop up.
