4. X Factor Rejects Week

As The X Factor is well into its tenth series, this year there's been a lot of looking back on the good times and the success stories that have come to be thanks to the show. If we're being honest, though, does anyone actually watch The X Factor hoping to find the next big thing in pop music? No. We're watching for girls with no teeth auditioning in home-made dresses. We're watching for hungover girls showing up to boot camp an hour late. And, on those really special times when the planets align and real X Factor magic occurs, we're watching for a girl turning to her friend and punching her in the face mid-audition. We propose that a week be devoted to the former rejects of X Factor years gone by. How hard could it be for Rough Copy to work out a three-part harmony to It's Chico Time? Meanwhile Luke Friend could tease his already unwashed hair into a giant quiff and leap round the stage like a 9-year-old as a tribute to Jedward. And Sam Callahan could easily assert his position as least popular contestant in the competition by finding himself a Katie Waissel wig and chucking himself on the floor during his sing-off. Dramatic stuff. Of course, the whole thing will be pointless unless Wagner agrees to show up for one-off performance of Love Shack on his bongos for old times' sake and really show the contestants how it's done.
