10 MORE Times Doctor Who Appeared In Other TV Shows

4. Comic Relief 2007

Founded by comedian Lenny Henry and Vincent and the Doctor scribe Richard Curtis in 1985, Comic Relief is a charity aimed at raising money for good causes through the medium of laughter.

It's the reason supermarkets sell those squishy red noses every year around March time.

The main attraction is an annual telethon broadcast on the BBC, which encourages people to donate by showcasing musical performances, hard-hitting documentaries, and original comedy sketches. Doctor Who has long been associated with Comic Relief – see Rowan Atkinson's brief stint as the Time Lord in 1999 – but one of the biggest highlights came in 2007.

Prior to her time in the TARDIS, Catherine Tate hosted her own sketch show, featuring numerous memorable characters including sassy schoolgirl Lauren Cooper. For Comic Relief '07, Tate recorded a sketch as Cooper where she met her new English teacher, played by none other than David Tennant.

Cooper makes several references to Doctor Who, including just straight up asking the teacher if he is the Doctor, and also implying that he fancies Billie Piper. To be fair, if Series 2 was anything to go by, then Lauren was bang on the money.

Tennant also pulls out a sonic screwdriver at one point, just in case the Doctor Who connection wasn't obvious.
