1 Up & 5 Downs From AEW Rampage (Aug 19)

Up...

1. Maximising Their Minutes

Penelope Ford Athena
AEW

Only one 'Up' this week.

Athena and Penelope Ford didn't have a lot of time to work with, and AEW gave them the dreaded picture-in-picture treatment, but both women worked hard and squeezed a lot in. It'd be sweet to see them go rematch style with a few more minutes too, because there's obvious chemistry there.

This lonely positive slips into the 'Ups' on hard graft alone. Ford deserves way more than she gets (All Elite can't be blamed for her injury layoff, to be fair), so hopefully she'll become a major presence on programming going forwards. Then, there was that post-match stuff involving Jade Cargill and her 'Baddies'.

Cargill smashed up Athena's wings with a sledgehammer, then cracked her babyface challenger in the ribs and posed with the TBS Title. Everything about the match/segment was solid and told a good story. Nobody can argue with that.
