10 AEW Dark Matches You Must See

9. Orange Cassidy Vs Will Hobbs (July 7th 2020)

Kenny Omega Joey Janela
AEW

Great because of what it wasn't, this is so much more than the unlikely flash win it was first presented as.

The ginormous Will Hobbs made his debut on the July 7th edition of Dark, but his impressive size and stature was just about all the audience could learn about him before Orange Cassidy flattened him with a his superman punch and scored the win in a little over 10 seconds.

Far from f*cking around, Cassidy was in no mood for it having been bloodied by Chris Jericho during the build to their match the following week's Fyter Fest special. This was much a statement win for 'Freshly Squeezed' as anything, but AEW's careful booking and placement of its performers left clues for what would eventually become of the loser.

Hobbs was full of confidence before taking the killer blow, but appeared to park that obnoxiousness in his first outings as the babyface associate of Sting and Darby Allin. Before getting his clock cleaned, the future 'Powerhouse' showed glimpses of the a*shole lurking beneath. On commentary, Taz presumably spotted this too.
