7. Jon Moxley Vs Robert Anthony (July 9th 2020)

Jon Moxley and Robert Anthony's Dark main event had an interested ringside observer in Brian Cage, back when 'The Machine' was set to take on AEW Champion Moxley at July's Fyter Fest event.

He posed a greater threat to the champion than Anthony ever could have, but the in-ring artistry of the titleholder in the form of his life brought genuine drama to scenario that could have been presented as a squash.

The pair matched technical excellence throughout (emphasised brilliantly by Taz on the call, working simultaneously as Cage's aide and submission encyclopaedia for the layman), which put Anthony over as well-drilled challenge for the Champion. Moxley eventually took control with a dive and never really gave it back. He'd shown 'Ego' the requisite level of respect, but it was time to show off for Cage instead.

Taking time to grind down his opponent, 'Mox' relished working Anthony's back and legs, which fed into obtaining a hard-fought win with a Texas Cloverleaf and eventually informed the finish of his clash with Taz' big bruiser. Little layers and little levels, but the sort of B-Show graft that's often not evident on the opposition's flagship.
