10 AEW Stars Who Will Be Champions In 2023
9. Athena
Athena had gotten lost in the shuffle of the AEW women's division in recent times, as her babyface run since joining the company in May had run its course. The former Ember Moon has unsuccessfully challenged for both the TBS and World Titles thus far, with performers such as Toni Storm, Jamie Hayter, and Saraya being profiled at the top of the division.
Lately, Athena has shown a more vicious side in her matches and even did the unthinkable by striking referee Aubrey Edwards on an episode of Rampage. This apparent heel turn just may be the spark that's needed to take the performer to the next level, perhaps even to a title run in the coming months.
When she debuted, Athena seemed like one of the few women who could actually dethrone Jade Cargill for the TBS Championship, but she ultimately failed to win that belt from the inaugural champ. Jade has been trending towards a face turn in some of her most recent feuds, which could make a matchup between the pair with flipped dynamics a great way for Cargill to finally lose the title.
