10 AEW Vs. Impact Matches That COULD Happen

7. Cody Vs. Chris Bey

The days of the TNT Championship open challenge are long gone. The gimmick was a success, and competitive matches with Cody led to both Ricky Starks and Eddie Kingston getting AEW contracts, but a whole host of talent outside the company will have to wait before getting a high-profile match against Cody.

Looking at the Impact Wrestling roster, no rookie has as high a ceiling as former X Division Champion Chris Bey. Only three years into this career, you don't need to be a pro wrestling savant to see the potential of the Ultimate Finesser, although the awkwardness of that moniker is every bit as clear. Bey has the look, the athleticism, the charisma and the ability to go as far as he wants in the pro wrestling business.

Cody vs. Chris Bey becomes a no brainer as a result. Sure, the match almost certainly ends with Bey tapping out in the figure-four or finding himself on the receiving end of a Cross Rhodes, but its impact on the future of the business could go well beyond a singles match on TNT or AXS TV and yes, the pun is intended.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
