10 AEW Vs. Impact Matches That COULD Happen

6. FTR Vs. Motor City Machine Guns

The Motor City Machine Guns may have made a remarkable return to Impact Wrestling but the former tag champions are a duo that were well and truly ahead of their time. Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin laid the groundwork for The Young Bucks and the eventual renaissance of tag team wrestling, In fact, it was with MCMG that the Young Bucks had their first great mainstream matches, as Generation Me back in 2010.

FTR vs. the 2020 incarnation of the Machine Guns won't be as good as a match with the 2010 version, but it will still be an absolute cracker that puts all non-Young Bucks tag matches in the shade. Sabin and Shelley, for all their athletic excitement, are closer to that traditional style of working than Matt and Nick, so it isn't out of the question that an FTR vs. Guns match could be every bit as good as the recent FTR/Bucks match.

Either way, this is a tag team dream match that all fans of the tandem style should be frothing at the mouth for. Injuries mean Sabin and Shelley might not have long left, so this needs to happen sooner rather than later.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
