The Undertaker might be the first name most fans think of when it comes to the Showcase of the Immortals, but there’s a reason Shawn Michaels is called “Mr. WrestleMania". From his classic wars with 'The Deadman' to his epic WWE Championship victory at WrestleMania XII, few can match HBK when it comes to epic ‘Mania matches. Michaels always seemed to shine on the biggest show of the year, particularly during his second spell with the company, but for all the great ‘Mania matches Michaels had, his record is surprisingly poor.

Haku & The Barbarian, El Matador, Bret Hart, Chris Jericho, Vince McMahon, and an elderly Ric Flair. That is the complete list of wrestlers that Michaels has defeated at WrestleMania, and aside from Jericho and Hart, it’s not exactly a glittering group. He usually stole the show, but HBK rarely walked away with the victory, particularly in his early years.

The Rockers lost their first two ‘Mania matches to the Orient Express & Twin Towers. As a singles wrestler, Shawn lost title matches to Tatanka, Razor Ramon, and Diesel prior to bettering Hart in 1996. Afterwards, Michaels lost to Austin, Chris Benoit, Kurt Angle, John Cena, then the two consecutive Undertaker losses that ended his career.

He might be the best all-round performer in WrestleMania history, but Michaels is far from the most successful. Still, his big-time performances at the event will always be an important part of his legacy, despite the outcomes.
