Triple H completely indulged in his own ego at Survivor Series 2017, taking centre stage in the traditional men's elimination match's closing stretch. First, he turned on teammate Kurt Angle, with his Pedigree allowing Shane McMahon to score the pinfall. Then it was the SmackDown General Manager's turn to taste deceit, as 'The Game' put him away with for the decisive elimination, much to Braun Strowman's bemusement.

It was grotesquely self-indulgent, but the afters made it tolerable. 'The Monster Among Men' decided he'd had enough of his boss' s***. He acted as the audience's avatar by taking Triple H by the throat and warned him not to try anything like that again. Hunter then signed his own death warrant with an ambush, and Strowman absolutely battered him with two Powerslams, sending the crowd home happy after a disappointing bout.

There was no follow-up. Hunter crossed paths with Angle on Raw the following night, but had nothing of substance for Strowman, who fell into a horrendous, momentum-sapping feud with Kane instead. Their beef remains unresolved, and it's unlikely that WWE will ever renew it now that six months have passed.
