If you hear Bret Hart and The British Bulldog spoken in the same sentence your mind no doubt drifts back to SummerSlam ‘92 when they clashed at Wembley Stadium, which Bulldog came out on top in front of 80,000 of his countrymen and was crowned Intercontinental Champion. Because of the pageantry around this event a lot of fans can’t recall the rematch between the two a few years later at In Your House 5.

This time the stakes were even greater, with Bret defending the WWF Heavyweight title and Bulldog having turned heel the summer prior and aligned himself with Jim Cornette, who got involved in the match early on by smacking Bret with a racquet shot behind the referee’s back. Bulldog relentlessly beat on Bret for the majority of the match, with Bret getting busted open and becoming a bloody mess.

Just like their SummerSlam match, the bout ended with a rollup, but with Bret cradling Bulldog into a pinning predicament for the victory. It was an outstanding contest, with Dave Meltzer voting it as high as 4 and ½ stars. Both men came out looking stronger for it too, with a bloody Bret narrowly escaping Bulldog’s brutality.
