10 Awful Nicknames Given To WWE Fans Over The Years

8. Edgeheads

Former WWE superstar Adam Copeland, better known as Edge, started calling his fans Edgeheads as far back as the early 2000s. The reason why or how he came up with this pet name is anybody's guess, but it could have been in reference to the term "egghead" which is, among many things, an intellectual superior.

It may be a jump, but for Edge to reference his fans as being smart for cheering for him isn't the worst thing. Unfortunately, there's no proof that was the reason behind the nickname and as it is, it could have simply been a sign of the times.

Typically being called a "something" head describes a passionate supporter of whatever that "something" is. If you were a metalhead, you liked heavy metal music. If you were a Deadhead you were a Grateful Dead fan, and if you were a cokehead, you were a fan of cocaine. Or the carbonated drink. You get the picture.

While some of these terms have been, for the most part, socially accepted, throwing the suffix onto just anything was a staple of the new millennium and it's one that hasn't aged well.

Quite frankly, it's embarrassing and the label given to Edge's fan base as "Edgeheads" is no different.
