10 Awful WCW Gimmicks That Immediately Died
5. The Yeti
Sure, Hulk Hogan had just lost his world title to The Giant (aka the son of former arch-nemesis, Andre) after his manager, Jimmy Hart, had double-crossed him - but were fans really clear on whether he was fighting the side of good, or evil?
To rid the air of ambiguity, company officials hired the seven-foot Ron Reis to come down to the ring as "The Yeti", covered head to toe in bandages, and perform a double bear-hug on the Real American alongside his fellow monster.
On paper, the ending to Halloween Havoc 1995 sounds suitably nightmarish - if not to jaded wrestling fans then at least to the little Hulkamaniacs in the audience - and it probably would have been were it not for The Yeti's utterly ridiculous get-up.
In subsequent appearances - he made a further two or three before getting the boot - they tried to make him look more menacing. But nothing worked, and the costume only seemed to hinder his ability to move freely in the ring. A total waste of everyone's time.
