10 Best Big Men In Wrestling Today

Size AND skill matter...

Wrestling's always been looked at as a big man's sport, especially in WWE. In the past decade, though, the perception has changed. Men like Chris Jericho, Eddie Guerrero, and Rey Mysterio opened the door; after being marginalized as cruiserweights in WCW, they became world champions and superstars in WWE.

Still, those men were all suspiciously more muscular in WWE than they had been before, proving that size mattered. It was CM Punk and Daniel Bryan who took things a step further, making no bones about the fact that they were indie stars, and using the same styles and gimmicks (and bodies) to become top guys on the biggest stage of all.

Today, WWE is a different place - to an extent. Guys who formerly wouldn't have been given a second look by the company - Austin Aries, Sami Zayn, and Hideo Itami, for instance - have earned jobs on the basis of their skill. At the same time, though, Braun Strowman is on TV. Wrestlers' heights and weights are exaggerated. It's still a big man's sport.

So who are the best big men - the ones who are just as good as the smaller, athletic guys? Here are the top ten in the business - the 280-pound plus stars who can deliver the goods.

10. Big Damo

Big Damo may be one of the most intimidating wrestlers in the sport today. The Northern Ireland native stands 6'4" tall, weighs 23 stone (that's 322 pounds, fellow non-Brits), and looks like a medieval warrior who'd decapitate an opponent with one swing of a sword - or might not even need a sword to do it.

Thankfully for wrestling fans in and around the UK, Damo also happens to be extremely talented. The current Insane Championship Wrestling World Heavyweight Champion, he uses an intense brawling style that makes him an overwhelming force, but he's also got a surprising scientific acuity. To say that "The Beast of Belfast" has gotten noticed for his skills is an understatement - he was selected to take on New Japan Pro Wrestling superstars Hiroshi Tanahashi, Tomohiro Ishii, and Shinsuke Nakamura at Revolution Pro Wrestling shows in 2015. As expected, great bouts resulted.

Damo can currently be seen by fans worldwide, plying his trade in WhatCulture Pro Wrestling. On the first episode of Loaded, he defeated Joe Hendry for the right to contend for the WCPW Championship.
