The parallels are never ending and even though this image doesn't show it, Mercy even took to the ring in a Hawaiian shirt... The early 90s saw WWE create a plethora of gimmicks that appealed everyone under the age of about nine. However, Mercy was cut from a very different yet sinister cloth, he came across as the sort of fun loving guy that would be at the forefront of the 'New Generation' in WWE back then, but it was clear for all to see that there was a raging psychopath trying to escape. It has been said that the character was based Based on Robert DeNiro's in Cape Fear which, tells you everything you need to know. It wasn't what he said, it was how he said it; much like Bray Wyatt today (although Bray has a better promo by far). Waylon always ended his monologues with "Ya know what I mean?"; a statement that shook you to your core as you simply had no idea what he was babbling on about...
