Vengeance has to go down as one of the greatest debuts due to the fact it made history. The event took the place of Armageddon in 2001, but kept its place for the next five years. It made a return in 2011 but hasn't been seen since, its slot is taken up by Night of Champions these days. Chris Jericho became the first ever WWE Undisputed Champion as he came through matches with The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin. Even the biggest Jerichoholic couldn't have seen that coming. This shock was enough to get the show over as one of the best, but its undercard was also very complimentary to the two championship matches and the unification bout. The highlights from the undercard saw: Edge defeat William Regal for the Intercontinental Championship, Matt taking on Jeff Hardy with Lita as the Special Referee, The Dudley Boyz defeating The Big Show and Kane for the Tag Team Championships, The Undertaker defeating Rob Van Dam for the Hardcore Championship plus women's action as Trish Stratus defeated Jacqueline for the Women's Championship. This type of bumper card was the norm back in the day and this one has to go down as one of the best. The names that were involved and the significance of the night in the history of both WWE and WCW (their big gold belt officially died) means Vengeance has to go down as one of the best PPV debuts in history.
