10 Best Debut Editions Of WWE PPVs

1. ECW One Night Stand - 2005

The hard hitting action of an ECW event couple with the production value of a WWE even. One Night Stand was almost perfection. One Night Stand showed how good ECW was and showed a few of the invading WWE superstars in attendance how to put on a PPV show. The action was non stop, everyone from Joey Styles to the wrestlers in the ring gave it their all and put on an event that sent nostalgia pulsating through the arena. The success of this event, and the subsequent 2006 version, persuaded WWE to resurrect ECW as a show. (Although many think Vince McMahon brought it back and made it so terrible to kill those "E-C-Dub" chants you used to hear when the faintest of hardcore moments played out at a WWE event.) The card combined the best wrestling action with some hardcore and real life elements. Chris Jericho and Lance Storm kicked the show off with a wrestling clinic. Storm picked up the win in what was billed as his last match. Then, Super Crazy defeated Tajiri (with The Sinister Minister and Mikey Whipwreck) and Little Guido (with Tracy Smothers, Tony Mamaluke, Big Guido and J.T. Smith) in a triple threat match. Rey Mysterio defeated Psichosis, Sabu (with Bill Alfonso) defeated Rhyno, Chris Benoit defeated Eddie Guerrero and Mike Awesome stole the show with his performance alongside Masato Tanaka. Another highlight saw the shoot promo from former ECW supremo Paul Heyman that certainly aired and put to bed a few rumours from the time. He condemned Edge for ending Matt Hardy's relationship with WWE diva Lita and claimed that the only reason JBL was WWE Champion for a year was because Triple H did not want to work Tuesdays. Burn.
