10 Best Heel Turns Of The WWE Attitude Era
1. Triple H (1999)
Triple H's moral standing flipped a couple of times in the Attitude years. Who can forget the big reveal that he was the perp who ran over Stone Cold?
But the game-changer, no pun intended, came a year earlier in 1999. Helmsley's run of DX leader following Shawn Michael's absence was peppered with consistent helpings of charisma and mischief. One pedigree to his buddy X-Pac, and all of that changed.
In an f-bomb spattered shoot with JR, Triple H announced the severing of all ties with his former colleagues, and for the first time declared himself 'The F***ing Game.' From this, he would become The Cerebral Assassin, and singularly the most badass heel of the Attitude Era. During the folloywing story lines, Mick Foley, The Rock and Steve Austin's heroics would have been a whole lot duller if Helmsley hadn't stepped up to the mantle and become the ultimate villain in the company.
Credit where it's due. Not only can we call this one of the best heel turns of an era, but also one of the most important.
