10 Best Late Career Runs In Wrestling History
3. The Undertaker (2007-2014)
Though The Undertaker will rightly be remembered as one of WWE’s most important wrestlers, this might not be the case without his epic late-career work. ‘Taker was no slouch in his early days, but it took over a decade for him to really peak as a performer, with the bulk of his career’s best in-ring work coming in his 40s.
‘Biker ‘Taker’ showed that Undertaker could be successful without his trademark ‘Deadman’ persona, but returning to the darkside ultimately cemented his legacy. A match with Batista at WrestleMania 23 took The Streak to the next level, and made each of ‘Taker’s ‘Mania appearance a unique, “must see” experience. Incredible, age-defying matches against the likes of Triple H, Shawn Michaels, and CM Punk followed, cementing The Undertaker’s legacy, and creating a big match record that few can rival.
Father Time eventually caught-up with ‘Taker, however, and everything after his Streak-snapping loss to Brock Lesnar was a disappointment. He went out on his shield against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 33, and while ‘The Phenom’ would still go down as a WWE legend without this run, with it, he does down as the WWE legend.
