Although nowhere near the level of their legendary encounter a few months prior at WrestleMania, Austin and Rock turned in a fun brawl in front of a typically excitable English crowd in Manchester. They fought all the way around the arena, including a few particularly painful spots on the entrance ramp, until Austin was able to retain the WWF Championship thanks to the interference of defector Kurt Angle. Realising that the outcome of this match was too much of a foregone conclusion (top titles almost never change hands in England), Austin and Rock decided instead to just cram as much excitement in as possible - and it worked. Despite the cheap finish - where Angle tripped Rock during the set up for his people's elbow - the crowd were hot throughout and seemed to appreciate a very fun match. They even reminded everybody of the simmering tensions between Rock and Chris Jericho when the latter came out to help, accidentally framed himself for assaulting the Brahma Bull when actually ripping the chair out of Angle's hands. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xrbgh0_wwf-rebellion-2001-stone-cold-steve-austin-vs-the-rock-full-match_sport
