10 Best Matches From WWF vs WCW/ECW Invasion

9. Steve Austin vs Kurt Angle vs Rob Van Dam - No Mercy 2001

Of all the incoming new stars, Rob Van Dam easily won over the WWE crowd the most thanks to his flashy style and some fantastic performances. He played the role of the plucky younger upstart in Austin's iron-fisted Alliance regime, standing up to the top dog and attempting to cause an upset. Unfortunately he became something of a third wheel in the much larger Austin vs Angle feud (which occurred before the Olympian defected to the Alliance locker room of course). Things came to a head in this triple threat main event at No Mercy, which saw all three men battle for Austin's WWF Championship. Despite featuring three great performers, this match gets no higher on the list due to its overbooked nature. The ending is incredibly McMahon-orientated, with Shane and Vince both interfering and distracting from the otherwise acceptable action - although Vince did provide some grisly entertainment by smashing open the back of Austin's head with a chairshot. Other highlights include father and son brawling over the announce table into the commentators' laps, and RVD diving out of the ring to wipe out two of the biggest stars in the WWF. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x4c7im_rvd-vs-steve-austin-vs-kurt-angle-t_news
