The year was 2009, and it seemed that WWE creative were about to go all in on a push for Kofi Kingston. He had a seriously hot angle with Randy Orton, and was just off managing to defeat Orton and CM Punk to be the sole survivor at Survivor Series, as well as defacing Orton's car and giving him that famous Boom Drop at MSG. This represented the beginning of the end of that push however, as Orton defeated Kofi cleanly in less than 15 minutes. Still, both men were hot at the time and the match itself was excellent. Kofi seemed to have the match won following a Trouble in Paradise, but Orton's ring awareness came into play as he managed to reach the bottom rope before the three. Orton would go on to attempt to punt Kofi, who managed to block most of the impact. It wasn't enough however, and Orton would RKO Mr. Kingston for the victory.
Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
