10 Best Matt Riddle Wrestling Matches You Must See

1. Vs. Will Osprey (ScrapperMania 4)

A few months before Riddle signed with WWE NXT, he went head-to-head with British NJPW megastar Will Ospreay at Irish promotion OTT’s ScrapperMania 4 show.

Riddle entered without his now signature crocs and delivered fewer fist bumps to the crowd. You could see in OTT booking this match a couple of months before he joined NXT they had got him at his hottest.

It doesn’t look like Ospreay will be heading to WWE anytime soon and it is doubtful Riddle will be heading to Japan, so this may be the only time we see these two fight it out.

Riddle kept the ‘Aerial Assassin’ grounded early on, locking in a number of submissions while looking to put the IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Champion away with his Fujiwara armbar.

Riddle’s power and knee strikes were the perfect match for Ospreay as ‘The Original Bro’ took control of the early stages of the match. Ospreay gained the upper hand when he sent Riddle crashing into the audience. At this point, the commentator remarked “this match is so good even Riddle wants a seat to watch it.” And he wasn’t wrong.

From bell to bell, it was a hard-hitting battle with both wrestlers trading kicks, chops and suplexes.

Despite Ospreay being one of the world’s finest wrestlers, the crowd were clearly behind Riddle, reworking the lyrics to Spandau Ballet’s Gold to 'bro' in his honour.

The fans at the National Stadium in Dublin were in fine voice, singing in support of Riddle throughout the duration of this 19-minute indie wrestling classic. It was such a strong contest that the fans gave it a standing ovation at 12 minutes and then again at full time.
