Jerry "The King" Lawler has had a Hall of Fame career that has spanned over four decades. Despite his legendary career he had never held the top title in WWE nor wrestled in WrestleMania (up to this point in 2011). At Elimination Chamber 2011 he tried to change all of that.

The Miz was WWE Champion and Lawler had hopes of taking his title and defending it the following Pay-Per-View at the grandest stage of them all. Nobody believed he would win nor did many have high expectations for this match. On the latter issue he would surprise us all.

Miz and Lawler didn't put on a match of the year contender but their bout definitely exceeded expectations. Lawler was given the chance to showcase his classic moves like when he dropped his fist off the second rope onto the champ.

The crowd bought into Jerry's chances and popped on a few nearfalls. Viewers were left with the impression that if Lawler could have executed his Piledriver then he would have defeated Miz and taken his belt.

Miz would win clean with his Skull Crushing Finale which was the right ending. Jerry received a rousing response from the crowd in attendance for his way better than expected performance. He fulfilled his WrestleMania goals at the following Pay-Per-View in a slightly less enjoyable match.
