6. "Hit Him Again, You Idiot!"
As mentioned previously, we had something of an NXT tag team reunion on this week’s showing of SmackDown, with the Ascension, the Vaudevillains, and finally the Hype Bros making their ways to ringside to observe American Alpha’s meeting with a pair of local athletes.
And while their presence felt fairly forced and unnatural, it was at least a chance for them to get some air time—a chance that the Vaudevillains took by squeezing in some rare, and ungentlemanly, trash talk.
After jobber no. 1 had struck Jason Jordan, and with next to no impact whatsoever, someone at ringside (I believe Aiden English) demanded he hit him again. Or "do it again," or something those lines. It was hard to make out the exact wording but the message was clear all the same.
Moreover, though, this was a rare dose of personality shown by a tag team that has been well and truly languishing. In a SmackDown tag division brimming with lower-carders, many of these teams need to do anything they can to somehow stand out from the crowd. And the Vaudevillains may have the best chance of doing that, if they continue to actually add this kind of colour to their appearances, no matter how subtle it may be.
