7. "Screw You!"

After Dolph Ziggler had inadvertently hit Dean Ambrose with a superkick, tensions were in danger of boiling over when the two met backstage after the commercial break.

Luckily, though, General Manager Daniel Bryan was right on the scene to diffuse the situation and remind each man that they had an important tag team match later in the show on which they should be focusing their attention.

And he ended the exchange in emphatic fashion, harking back to Ziggler’s line last week and telling the pair that if they didn’t like it, “screw you!”

Obviously this was a slightly more attitudinal Bryan than the one we’ve grown accustomed to, but that doesn’t mean it was a bad thing. In fact, given that the show’s two authority figures are both babyfaces in the extreme, it’s good to see them laying down the law and showing that they won’t let themselves be pushovers.

With matches being made at the demands of wrestlers, for the purposes of the show it’s important to convey that Bryan and Shane still very much have the final say, and that’s exactly what was achieved with this line.
