Remember the WWE app?

It was, for a brief while, the thing the company were keenest to flog during episodes of Raw or SmackDown. The Bella Twins were once cast in a vignette as a flight attendants explaining to those that may not know how to download the app. Michael Cole, relentlessly, was instructed to tell you what you could find on the app. After watching videos on the app, a wrestler would appear telling you to check out more cool things on the app.

You remember the app.

WWE wanted you app'ed up as soon as possible because eventually they were going to use it as a primary vessel for the version of it that exists to this day - the button on your device that plays the Network. In the embryonic stages, they had to find other ways to drive eyes, and Raw's commercial breaks were as good as any. It was thus deemed Kofi Kingston could topple Cesaro on a June 2014 strictly for the entertainment of the phone viewers rather than the important television ones.

And it wasn't the only time USA Network homers were knocked for a loop...
