10 Best Times Wrestlers Faked Life-Changing Injuries

3. Owen Hart

Sometimes, the simple ones are the best.

Owen Hart exemplified this in 1996 by feigning a forearm injury for months. Throughout, the cowardly heel begged everyone to believe that he was fighting through the pain and valiantly trying to compete. In reality, Hart was using the dangerous cast as a weapon whenever the referee wasn't looking.

In promos, Owens claimed that he might've had to retire from the ring if he wasn't so brave and tough. It was genius, and it provided endless cheap heel heat during Hart's bouts - it was also an easy spot he could work with any babyface, whether they happened to be over on their own or not.

Eventually, Hart got caught out and was forced to remove the cast. The fact he got so much mileage out of something so innocuous speaks to the skill of Owen though. He p*ssed fans off by pretending that he was going through hell just to entertain them, and the gimmicked injury remains one of his finest ideas.
