10 Best Times WWE Stars Pulled Double Duty
3. Chris Jericho - Vengeance 2001
Did you know that Chris Jericho defeated The Rock and Steve Austin in the same night to become the first-ever WWE Undisputed Champion? I don't think I'd ever heard that before, especially not from Jericho himself, constantly, for fifteen years straight.
In all seriousness, it's an amazing accomplishment, one that likely won't be equaled. First of all, you'd need two stars as monolithic as Rock and Austin on the same roster simultaneously, and you'd also need two championships that could be taken seriously as world titles.
Jericho first had to defeat The Rock for the WCW Championship, which he did with great difficulty. Rocky was in top form, shrugging off several different Walls of Jericho applications and even DDTing Chris through the announce table. Jericho survived it all though, and capitalised on a distraction from Vince McMahon to hit a low-blow/Rock Bottom combination to win the title.
Of course, Jericho had no time to savour his victory, and was immediately waylaid by a fresh Austin. Stone Cold beat Jericho from pillar to post until more McMahonterference occurred, but that was subsequently countered by interFlairence. Austin was able to submit Chris with a Walls of Jericho during a ref bump, but Booker T appeared from the aether to brain Austin with his own belt to give Jericho the pin.
So, not only did this match result in a historic unification, but also a skit where Booker T gets beaten up with groceries. Outstanding.
