10 Best Times WWE Stars Pulled Double Duty

2. Bret Hart - WrestleMania X

Bret Hart WrestleMania X
WWE

Bret Hart and Lex Luger had co-won the 1994 Royal Rumble, earning both men the right to challenge the mighty Yokozuna. Luger lost the toss, meaning he went first. Whoever won would face Bret later, so in the interest of fairness, the Hitman was given an additional match of his own against brother Owen.

Jealous, comically hateful Owen Hart is one of my favourite characters of all-time, and he's in top form here against Bret. Every move he makes is a desperate attempt to escape his brother’s shadow, and he succeeds. It's even a clean win: despite Owen’s weaselly nature, the two brothers wrestled a twenty minute, squeaky clean classic.

It's the undeniable highlight of Owen's too-short career, and a lasting testament to just how good the King of Harts could be.

Since Lex Luger lost his title match for shoving the referee (thrilling!), Bret got a chance to turn his night around. Not only was Yoko unable to surprise Bret with a victory roll à la Owen, but his lack of agility literally caused his downfall when he missed a Banzai Drop to take the pin and lose the title.

Bret's twin matches that night were great in two different ways. Bret's defeat of Yokozuna was a great moment in his career, but his showcase match with Owen is a lasting reminder of Bret's legacy of wonderful wrestling and of building new stars.
