Despite the fond memories people have of the tournament, there really haven't been that many great matches in the history of King of the Ring - even the finals are usually disappointing. The sole exception to that, though, is the last match of the very first televised KOTR tournament, where Bret Hart took on Bam Bam Bigelow.

Bigelow, one of the best big men of the 1990s, took the fight to Hart using his strength advantage. When the two men fought to the outside, Bigelow's valet, Luna Vachon, hit Hart with a steel chair, allowing Bigelow to pin Hart and seemingly win the tournament. When a second referee came down to reveal what happened, though, the bout was restarted.

Bigelow kept working Hart over, but "The Hitman" managed to turn the tide by hitting a high crossbody from the top turnbuckle to the outside of the ring. Back inside, Hart wasn't able to lock Bigelow in the Sharpshooter, but a victory roll gave him the pin and the title of King of the Ring.
