10 Best Traditional WWE Survivor Series Performers
It's the second oldest PPV on WWE's calendar, but who lays claim to being a Survivor Series legend?
In the history of WWE's November spectacular, a select few have made their mark on the traditional Survivor Series elimination match. Thinking back through more than 30 years of five-on-five, four-on-four, and even a one-on-four that we'll talk about later, there is been a handful of special superstars who are forever linked to this event.
The lineage of Survivor Series goes back further than any other WWE pay-per-view, with the exception of WrestleMania. The traditional five-on-five elimination matches have become both feud-enders and feud-creators, and the various permutations possible in the format have given us some epic surprises and heart-stopping moments. In recent years the event has been used to host an inter-brand competition, with only pride and bragging rights on the line rather than titles, like an anti-Night Of Champions.
Some of the names that follow have done it time and again over the course of decades, some made an almighty splash and retired undefeated in the match, while a couple put in one or two explosive performances that will live long in the memory.
(Honourable mentions: Randy Savage, Braun Strowman, Asuka, and Sasha Banks.)
10. The Rock
If this were an overall Survivor Series ranking, Rocky would be much closer to the top of the pile. It is The Rock, after all, and his record stands at 8-2. However, The Great One featured in just three traditional matchups, ending as sole survivor twice; his one defeat came on the undercard of the 1997 show, lost in time to the overwhelming shadow of that night's main event.
While he may have the least impressive record on this list, Rock makes it here due to those two sole survivor performances, in addition to seven eliminations, tying him sixth all-time from just three matches. There is one other reason that The Rock should be recognised for his efforts at the Fall Classic, and that reason would be his most recent elimination bout: the 2001 main event.
As the last remaining member of Team WWF, he carried the hopes of the company on his shoulders against eternal rival 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin in one of the best matches in Survivor Series - nay, WWE - history. Rocky picked up three of the five eliminations for his team in that match, anchoring himself as a legend of the business.
